In order to help limit the spread of COVID-19 all Chicagoland exhibitors closed in mid March. As of July some venues have opened with limited capacity, most remain closed. We fully support these closures, but recognize that the choice to close or cancel screenings during this time is very difficult one to make for organizations that revolve around communal movie-going, and has put many of them in a financially precarious position.
Below is a list of vulnerable film-capable organizations who have postponed or cancelled screenings, or who are closed for the foreseeable future . Most have had to furlough a significant portion of their staff. Many accept donations, have membership programs, and are offering “virtual cinema” options on their websites. Support these organizations and their staff if you are able and we’ll all be at the movies together again soon once it’s safe to do so!
